Project Summary
For this week's project I was tasked with creating a set of postcards out of original photos I took to promote my local community. The details include a 6 minimum photos for 6 different postcards that must be 5in x 7in at 300 dpi. A postcard is typically used for sending messages without the need of an envelope. One side is often decorated with a picture of illustration, while the other side has space for writing a message and address. Postcards are commonly used for travel greetings and invitations. Because I decided on doing my project on street art my target audience would have to consist of the local community residents in the area where the art is displayed often, part of the residents daily environment. Next would also have to be tourists or visitors seeking unique experiences and local culture that appreciate street art. The youth and subcultures of younger demographics, particularly those who like art and alternative lifestyles who can communicate with the specific street arts message. A lot of street art may address social and political or even environmental issues that can speak to an audience who are passionate about these topics. And last but not least the digital audience with the rise of social media, street art can reach global audiences on an abundance of sharing platforms and attract views to encourage tourists to visit the area or see the street art for themselves. I decided to do street art in my local city of Winter Haven because of all the different murals offered downtown. I thought this would be a great idea to attract tourists or even classmates of mine to visit the area and see the murals for themselves and enjoy the local pubs and restaurants downtown Winter Haven has to offer. This was a really fun project. I was able to get out and research and hunt down each mural in the area and explore in general.
